Salutations with a side order of crumpets and cornbread to our steadfast listenership!  Join Dburt, Capt. Kirk and the "Uncanny" Daryll B., for a new episode of Afronerd Radio's Grindhouse airing this Saturday at 6pm EST.  For our latest installment, we welcome writer, editor and co-owner of Verge Entertainment, Joseph Illidge.  Mr. Illidge stops by Afronerd Studios to discuss his forthcoming project, The Ren as well as his stellar editorial career at DC Comics and Milestone Media.  Additionally, the crew will dissect the following stories: comedic actor, Simon Pegg (Star Trek, Shaun of the Dead) has some choice words regarding geek culture and the infantilization of adult society (what, his geek movie themed checks bounced?); what does the leak of the Supergirl pilot episode 6 months before the official airing mean for the series? ; what are the implications for the season finales of Agents of Shield and The Flash; DC's Convergence vs Marvel's Secret Wars-flipside of the same crossover event?; our impressions of the recent Mad Max reboot.  And lastly, actor, Michael B. Jordan states his case for "fear of a Black Human Torch."     And for more serious socio-political fare, there's Afronerd Radio for the second half.  Join Dburt and Capt. Kirk as they discuss the following topics: The Root site gets purchased by Univision; Sean P. Diddy Combs weighs in on the #BlackLivesMatter movement; another police shooting of unarmed Black men-this time occurring in WA ; Bionic contact lens are on the horizon; our thoughts about the upcoming afronerd-centric Dope film.  Lastly, the recent story of a Harvard grad arrested for drug dealing and how cultural underpinnings are hard to avoid.  Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
